Juicy afternoon

It has been so hot so we had some watermelon this afternoon. We all had a slice. It was extremely delicious! Miss Carr cut it into 14 pieces.
We all got very juicy and some of us got red juice everywhere! I thought it was very funny when I had to wipe my mouth quite a few times! We all had a great afternoon.

PGL by Billy and Jaden

On the weekend we went to PGL. It was our first time we had gone away for more than one day so we were really excited! We went on activities such as the trapeze, Jacobs ladder, giant swing, zip wire , cops and robbers in an actual mine, we also had a water fight, we both got drenched! We went to the beach and told scary stories. Jaden went to bed at 3 am and Billy went to bed at 11 pm. As well as this, Billy found a WW II  bunker on the beach .We went by bus for about 2 to 3 hours and ferry for about 45 minutes. On the bus I made a loom band necklace for Mrs Impey. Also we had lots of fun on the PGL trip because of all of activities we did and we were playing football in our free time.

While we were on the PGL trip Billy got player of the year for his football team it was great, I was doing the trapeze at the time! My mum text Mrs Impey who was the teacher supervising us. When I heard it I slung my arms in the air like I had won an Olympic gold medal!

Proud to be Sandridge!

As a teacher there will be moments throughout the school year that you are filled with pride. Perhaps a child has achieved something they have been working towards, perhaps they overcame a challenge or perhaps they have shown an particularly good attitude.
Today was a day that I experienced all 3. We took some of our key stage 2 children to the district sports tournament, something our school hasn't done in a while, and it's fair to say they were truly amazing. Not only did they give 100% in every single activity but they did so with such positive attitudes and such encouragement towards others that it made me more than I can express!
If you took part or if you supported then you are one of the things that make Sandridge a truly wonderful school. Yes I'm a soppy and slightly over emotional teacher but you did us proud
Well done all!

Year 4 become film stars!

Year 4 had, in their own words 'one of the best days ever!' yesterday.
We were lucky enough to be visited by a company called Frontline Productions who came in and showed us a perfromance based on the life of Sergeant Walter Tull.
We then worked with the year 3 class in workshops on artefacts, we saw some amazing things that were actually in the war 100 years ago such as grenades that had been made safe. We also saw uniforms from the war.
Our next workshop was drama, we had to act out different scenarios in groups all in silence (yes we managed it!) and then this was put in a short film. They added music and sound effects to our film and we watched it at the end of the day.
It was perhaps one of the most amazing sessions I have seen in a school, the children really engaged with the men leading it and found out so much about the war as well as this you could see they really started to understand the emotion attached to the war.
We came back after the session and did a writing lesson based on the activities, you will be so impressed with the results! These will be uploaded later but for now here are some photos showing you our day!
