Junayd's poem

Junayd enjoyed our unit on poetry so much he went home and wrote his own poem! We liked the illustrations so much we decided to scan it in as a picture rather than type it out.
Well done Junayd!

Year 4 boxing in action!

Hopefully this will work!
We are coming to the end of our boxing unit so I thought I would show you one of the games we haveto develop our skills. In this one we have to work on our jabbing skills, its tricky as you can't see the numbered sheets on the mat.
You may also be able to tell we are rather competitive!

Dream Giver by Isabella

Dream Giver

Written by Isabella

The night sky was a blanket of navy blue with specs coloured silver and gold. In the air, a fluttering soft noise started to approach, getting louder and louder. A creature with wings started flustering towards the top of a huge detached house with 3 floors. The shutters on the windows were shut, all but one! The house looked blissful and it stood on top of a hill. It was an orphanage.

He wasn’t wearing any clothes, other than pants! Getting closer to that window on the upstairs of the house, the fairy muttered something to himself. “I must not awake the child.” He was the Dream Giver.
Opening the window of the child’s room, the faerie could hear the sound of a little girl snoring away. Being as quiet as a mouse, the Dream Giver flew over to the child’s bed and carefully placed a glowing bag on top of it. Then he reached inside it and pulled out a glowing egg.

Trying not to awake Rosie, the child, the Dream Giver cracked open the egg and poured some of the yolk onto a baby pink coloured microphone that was at the foot of her bed. All of a sudden, a miniature sized singer appeared out the yolk, holding the exact same pink microphone. The singer looked just like Rosie, long blonde wavy hair, blue eyed, rosy cheeks and a cute button nose. Then the singer walked up to the girl’s face and lightly tapped on her face.
In a studio, full of singers and dancers, was where Rosie’s dream took place. She was dressed in bright red clothes and blue laced shoes. She was holding a pink coloured microphone. As she was wondering what was happening, Rosie walked over to a mahogany brown desk. A woman was standing behind the desk, wearing a smart suit with a red bow tie. “Excuse me,” asked Rosie, feeling mystified. “I am a new singer but which studio do I need to go into to get my song filmed?”
“Hi. Can I take your name, please?” asked the woman very kindly. “My name is Lily.”
“My name is Rosie Thomas. I am here to perform my song called Let It Be Me. I am only 13 and I live in an orphanage.”
“You need to go to room 17. Outside of the room one of my colleagues will be holding a sign saying Rosie Thomas. If you go with that lady, she will take you inside and tell you what to wear when you perform your song. Bye for now!”

Off Rosie went to room 17. Then she spotted the lady that was holding a sign saying Rosie Thomas. She walked over and went inside with the lady. “I am Lily’s colleague, Felicity. If you come with me I will get you dressed to perform your song.” Rosie was put into a sparkly blue top with chartreuse yellow leggings. Her shoes were ruby red with a violet heart on the side. Once she was all dressed, she went on stage. Rosie was on stage for about 4 minutes and came out buzzing with excitement. She had been told that her music video would be on the television!

Waking up, Rosie felt as warm as a piping hot pan. She heard a bang and looked up at her window. It was shut like it was in the evening of the previous day.

Dream Giver by Ronnie

Silently, a group of children were happilly sleeping in an orpahange until a mysterious creature came cruising into the room carrying a bag of gleaming eggs. He didn't look very nice. Suddely he came swooping in and landed safely on the ground.

He grabbed one of his eggs and broke it. Carefully, he poured some mysterious liquid on to the video game. Suddenly a beam of gold shot onto the roof and the little boy was playing his favourite game (Paintball 4) He kept cherring because he was beating his best friend.

The Dream Giver slowly glided over to the next child. Once again he poured some more of the golden liquid on to a baseball bat. Suddenly another beam of gold shot up onto the roof, the Dream Giver could see him playing baseball in his dreams and saw him score his forst home run.

Finally the Dream giver moved on to the final child and pooured the liquid on to a book. A beam of golden goodness shot on to the roof and the Dream giver saw the child as an astronaut. As he was about to leave the Dream Giver had not realised he hasd left an egg on the bed. When the little boy in the second bed hit a ball in his dream, the egg fell off and the liquid covered an action figure of the evil Dark Knight. As soon as the egg cracked, the Dream giver turned around and saw what was happening in his drea,m and saw the Dark Knight pull the boy into a portal.
As quickly as possible, the Dream Giver poured the liqid onto a teddy bear laying nearby.

Suddenly the little boy woke up to see nothing. he picked up the action figure and pressed his belly. A roar came out and the boy realised it had all been just a dream so he lay back down and went back to sleep.

The Dream Giver flew away to move on to his next house and his next set of dreams,

A bit of fraction fun!

Fractions have been the focus in maths this week and we have seen some really good work from the year 4s, Smarties could be a good way to further our understanding of this!
However for the time being why not have a go at some of these games and see if your work in class has helped!

Some ideas for creative writing!

I know lots of you have been enjoying the video clips we have been using in extended writing sessions so I thought I would put them up here just in case you feel like writing something for me I have included the link.
The Literacy Shed is an amazing bank of resources that seem to put the excitement back into writing again so I hope the resources will give you a few ideas.
Don't forget you can either write your piece of work out on paper or you can email it to the class account so i can put it up one here!
Have fun!
